Enthusiastically organized by UP Student Council and Student Affairs office, Charity Trip to Takeo on 10th March 2013 was very successful along with fruitful results. The event consumed the whole day with the honored participation of Mr. SOK Puthivuth, University of Puthisastra President and UYFC Takeo Province Team Leader (Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia); Banoy High School Principal, Takeo Province Authorities, UP Staff and approximately 200 UP students and 400 Banoy High School students. The core purpose of the trip was to share the experience to high school students on how to choose a major, how to be successful in study and work, benefits and challenges of ASEAN Economic Community Integration 2015, and finally First Aid Training.

At the outset of the event, former Banoy high school students Mr. Keo Seda grasped a microphone and stood up in front of 600 hundred people to energetically share inspiration about his past experience and how tough life had been for him as a farmer’s son that continued his bachelor degree in the city. He faced countless challenges, but his inner voice told him to keep striving every single day. Rewardingly, he successfully graduated from University of Puthisastra. His key message to the students was that never give up “If you believe you can do it, you will achieve it no matter where you from.” Subsequently, University of Puthisastra President, Mr. SOK Puthivuth also highlighted few key points to the students. He encouraged the students to always cooperate together as a team because no matter where they go in life, teamwork is inevitable. Moreover, he advised the students to study one more foreign language such as English and Computer skills because he sees that these two skills will serve as a bridge for the students to move forward in their careers.

After the speech, UP students and Banoy high school students dispersed themselves into different classes and started the sessions. UP students began to talk about how to choose a major when high school students go to pursue their study at University and simultaneously responded to the questions raised by the students. In addition, UP students guided Banoy high school students on how to be successful in study and work. Most importantly, UP students presented the benefits and challenges of the ASEAN Economic Community Integration 2015 and advised the students to properly equip themselves to face it. Last but not least, UP students from Faculty of Health Science conducted First Aid Training to high school students to provide the initial help for victim.

Finally, University of Puthisastra would like to heartedly thank UP Student Council and Student Affairs office for making this event happen. Besides, we would like to thank Banoy High School, Takeo Province authorities and UYFC Takeo Province for their kind collaboration. University of Puthisastra strongly believes that these kinds of activities will serve as a role model for the younger generation to contribute to the society.
