YEAR 3 DENTAL STUDENTS COMPLETE OSCE EXAM BEFORE TREATING PATIENTS

Year 3 students finished their semester with an OSCE exam with 10 stations. At each station they had to perform an exercise such as CPD, reading a radiograph, putting of rubber dam, mixing GIC, assembling and placing a matrix band, taking a radiograph, putting on and taking on PPE, showing scaling technique, cutting a cavity and demonstrating how to extract a tooth. The students were assessed at each station by staff or senior dental students who were trained how to score the students.

Most of the students passed with flying colours – a few need to repeat one or two stations before being allowed to start seeing ;real; patients. Thanks for the course leader, Dr Horn Rithvitou, and his team for organizing this exercise.
