Part-Time Medical Research Officer (FDC)

I. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Research Officer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality and timeliness of MD student thesis while help fostering a collaborative research environment.
Key duties include:

  • Work with dean and deputy dean for research to improve the medical students’ thesis writing
  • Guide medical students in thesis writing, ensuring adherence to academic guidelines and timely submission.
  • Assist students and faculty with research design, data analysis (descriptive/inferential statistics), and draft thesis/manuscript preparation.
  • Review and refine thesis drafts to ensure quality and readiness for defense. Make sure that the theses of MD students are of sufficient quality and are potentially for defenses.
  • Provide additional support to train students in biostatistics tools and reference management (Mandalay, Zotero etc.).
  • Support in organizing defenses process, including scheduling, examiner coordination, and compliance with university protocols.
  • Actively involve on the development of research and publication and contributions in teaching and lecturing
  • Encourage and supervise research carried out by students in the Faculty of Medicine and help ensure that it is of sufficient quality to lead to publications in international/national, peer-reviewed journals
  • Coordinate and personally contribute to students and Faculty on research activities, ensure their on-time development and submission, and timely reporting.
  • Personally supervise the thesis of the medical student groups, providing structured feedback.
  • Ensure alignment with university policies and reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

II. Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Education:

  • MD or Bachelor’s in Medical Science (advanced degrees preferred).

2. Experience:

  • Have experiences in research (collection data, proposal writing, analysis data)
  • Familiar with biostatistics and data analysis and the used tools (Excel, SPSS, Stata, R)
  • References managements (endnote, Mandalay, Zotero etc.)
  • Hold publications as first author in journals (national/international).

3. Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; respectful and open to feedback.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships thesis and research
  • Ability and enthusiasm to take initiative to solve or improve problems and issues proactively.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English.
  • Flexibility to work with delayed submissions and motivate students.
