University of Puthisastra, Cambodia Hosts the 2026 ASEAN Association of Schools for Medical Laboratory Technology (AASMT) Board Meeting
Phnom Penh: On Thursday, 5 February 2026, University of Puthisastra, Cambodia, was honored to host the 2026 ASEAN Association of Schools for Medical Laboratory Technology (AASMT) Board Meeting at E-meeting room, Building E. This important regional meeting reflected the University of Puthisastra’s role as a leading higher education institution committed to academic excellence and regional engagement.
The 2026 AASMT Board Meeting was officially opened and conducted under the chairmanship of Prof. Ian Rouse, President and Vice-Chancellor of University of Puthisastra, followed by welcoming remarks from representatives of the AASMT Board of Directors. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation within the ASEAN framework for medical laboratory technology through academic collaboration, accreditation development, and professional networking.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Chea Sin, Vice-President of University of Puthisastra and President-Elect of the ASEAN Association of Schools for Medical Laboratory Technology (AASMT), President of CAMT, , UP’s staff, and AASMT Board representatives from the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The strong participation highlighted the University of Puthisastra’s growing academic network within the ASEAN region.
During the AASMT Board Meeting, participants reviewed the 2025 outcomes, discussed updates to the accreditation framework, explored collaborative curriculum initiatives, and considered proposals for regional research networks. The afternoon working group meeting further discussed plans for the AASMT Conference to be hosted in Cambodia and included a site visit to the proposed conference hotel, coordinated by University of Puthisastra.
The successful hosting of this event demonstrated University of Puthisastra ‘s strong commitment to regional collaboration, leadership in higher education, and the advancement of medical laboratory technology across ASEAN.
